I remember Miss Jane’s class in Connecticut and how much it impacted my emotions to hear about the violence imposed on Dr. King & Lewis at Selma, slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the Klan, and Jim Crow. She was so brave to embolden the class with the truth about the Black experience especially in the South. My father echoed her words at home. I too feel blessed to have been in her class.
Hmm, nothing said about Antifa and Black Lives Matter demonstrations. "Mostly peaceful I guess.". I'm old enough that I remember Bloody Sunday and personally participated in marches. I remember well which party apposed black voter rights and which party fought for and eventually obtained the right to vote for all.
Your thoughts above on today's parties makes sense. They have for the most part both lost sight of constitutional freedoms and those few that haven't are too timid to stand up. The Freedom Convoy was an attempt to express that but it was well suppressed by the progressive press so most Americans have no idea what it was about.
I live in the DC area (sort of - 60 miles West) and that convoy was on our news daily. I think the race track in Hagerstown wants to start races again so those truckers are going to have to caravan themselves away soon, if not already.

Love the article, brought me back. Thanks John.

Was it suppressed?
I’m asking for real, not to debate you.

Hey John - keep up the good work.
